That being said, any true coffee fan who regularly has guests or needs to serve more than a couple of people would want a coffee maker that has a subtle combination of these elements: Speed, Quality and Capacity. Delicate-tasting coffee usually reserved for the taste buds of more discerning coffee aficionados is often not the goal of this type of machine; rather, it aims to provide good quality coffee for a lot of people quickly and easily. Cuisinart DCC-2650 Brew Central 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker Reviews
The Cuisinart coffee maker DCC 2650 reviews Brew Central 14-Cup is one such device that markets itself as a Fully-Automatic Coffee Machine that has programmable capabilities. Looking a bit rather on the industrial side with its sleek silver overall finish and a few shades of black, it presents itself well and not overly done; the Cuisinart DCC-DCC-2650 style will definitely fit any modern kitchen.
User-Friendly Control Panel
As with any coffee maker that has programmable features, the control panel will be the most used component of the machine. All of the most essential and basic commands should be very easy to execute. At the same time, the advanced features and add-ons should not be too complicated to access in order to give the user a much better brewing experience.
Getting confused in figuring out what a button or knob will do when touched will definitely result in frustration and regret in the purchase. Thankfully, the Cuisinart DCC-2650 did not shove too many bells and whistles on the main control panel and managed to make it user-friendly with well-marked buttons and knobs complete with accompanying LED lights to indicate status.
A Digital Clock readout dominates the center of the control panel: this shows the Auto-On or Auto-Off times of the device and, of course, doubles as a clock as well. Around this display are five buttons, On-Off, HR (Hour), MIN (Minute), Reg (Regular), and Bold. Two black knobs are placed below, left and right below the LED display. On the left, you have the Function Knob with selections for the following: PROG, Auto-On, Auto-Off, Brew, Clock, and Audible Tone (not shown).
The right knob is for the Carafe Temperature control, with Low, Medium, and High as its options. A unique 1-4 Cup Setting Button is also present, and this is said to improve extraction, taste, and temperature when brewing fewer than 5 cups. The Self-Clean button beside it indicates time to clean up the machine to prevent calcium build-up.
The Cuisinart DCC-2650 can be set to start brewing up to 24 hours in advance and can be programmed to shut off after brewing (up to 4 hrs after). The showerhead disperses water evenly over the coffee to provide optimum brewing while a charcoal water filter eliminates minerals and chlorine that might be present in tap water. As for the taste settings, there is an option for a Regular brew while switching over the Bold setting produces a stronger blend. A Brew Pause feature is included, which allows you to immediately serve coffee even while the machine is still brewing (brewing stops when this is done). A glass carafe can hold up to 14 cups and, when not in use, sits on the temperature-adjustable Heater Plate to keep the brewed coffee at an appropriate temperature.
The Cuisinart DCC-2650 lives up to its name of being a “Brew Central”. It makes a lot of cups in a relatively fast time and makes excellent coffee taste-wise. A thermal carafe would have been beautiful though, as it maintains coffee better both taste-wise and temperature-wise and cancels the need for a Warmer Plate that consumes power. But overall, the Cuisinart DCC-2650 is a great performer in its price range and tough to beat thanks to its large capacity and programmable features.
