Cuisinart DFP-14BCNY 14-Cup Food Processor, Brushed Stainless Steel

Cuisinart DFP-14BCNY 14-Cup Food Processor

Buy At Amazon

The Cuisinart 14 cup food processor is one of Cuisinart’s best-selling food processors. This is probably due to its powerful 720-watt motor combined with the included accessories and quite an operation. The Cuisinart DFP-14BCN comes with a large capacity 14 cups BPA free Lexan work bowl as well as chopping, dough, shredding, and slicing blade. Also included are two feed chutes and pushers; one is extra-large for more significant food items such as potatoes, which means you don’t have to pre-chop your food items before putting them in the machine. The base has a subtle brushed stainless steel finish, which looks great in any modern kitchen, and the small footprint of the machine doesn’t need much counter space. The motor only has one speed, but there is a pulse option that comes in handy. The Cuisinart custom 14-cup food processor weighs a hefty 15 pounds, which is a great advantage helping to reduce any vibration or movement while using the machine.

Positive Review:

I just received this machine as a gift about a week ago. It has already been put to good use in my home kitchen! Today alone I diced mushrooms & onions, shredded cheese, and sliced strawberries, apples, & tomatoes. They were all done beautifully without damaging the food in the process. This gave perfectly shredded cheese, beautifully sliced fruits & vegetables, and the mushrooms & onions were diced just right for my homemade “cream of soup”. I am surprised at the speed at which it processes and still has smooth clean cuts without mashing the food. It is also very quiet!

The bowl was large enough to hold the whole 2 lb block of shredded cheese. The 2 openings, large & small, were both used today. Having the smaller feed tube, I was able to stack my strawberries in and keep them from tumbling around which helped provide more uniform slices. Having the larger, I was able to cut my 2 lb block of cheese into 4ths and have the entire block shredded in no time. The larger would not hold my whole tomato set in right side up, but I was able to turn my tomatoes sideways and get beautiful slices anyway.

I did take some pictures/video along the way to show processes and comparisons on the different blade thicknesses. I did purchase some extra discs alongside my gift that included the thin slicing blade as well as the thick. I used the shredding disc & slicing disc that came with the machine for the cheese & tomatoes. I cut the strawberries with all three just to show comparison and so others could see how it would slice if they were considering the purchase of another thickness.

I included the strawberry slicing short video just so you could see how quickly it diced and compare it to the end product. Left to right in the strawberry photo the strawberries are sliced with a thin (2mm), medium (4mm), thick (8mm) disc – the middle one (4mm) is the one that comes standard with the machine.

I am finding this machine easy to handle and a joy to have in my kitchen. It’s easy to operate. I now have a feel for how to insert & change the discs, so it really has been a simple yet very efficient machine. I highly recommend.

Cuisinart DLC-10SY Pro Classic 7-Cup Food Processor

The Cuisinart DCL-10S is slightly smaller than the DFP-14BCN with a capacity of up to 7 cups. It still comes with a dough, shredding, slicing, and chopping blade as well a large and small feed chute each with there own pusher. The one-speed motor is 600 watts, but it also has a pulse feature, which is what you will use most of the time. Cuisinart’s are known for there smooth operation when compared to other food processors, and the Cuisinart 7 cup food processor is no exception. The Cuisinart DLC-10S Pro Classic 7-cup food processor still has plenty of power to make the dough, so you don’t give up anything when compared to the larger processors from Cuisinart. It takes up less counter space and has a simple, easy to clean white finish on the base. If you don’t need the larger capacity of the bigger machines, the DLC-10S Pro Classic should be all the machine you need.

Richard R.

I have been using this food processor every other day since I purchased it 5 weeks ago. The pluses: the motor seems to be the strong feature of this “intermediate” capacity, 7-cup, processor. It’s heavier than other 7-8 cup processors, and I like that characteristic. The controls are as simple as it gets. Its appearance is complementary. I found the unit relatively easy to clean.

The minuses: There are 2 main issues I have with the unit. Its actually working capacity is 3 to 3 1/2 cups. Denser preparations may boost its working capacity to 4 cups. Liquid items like salsas and blended soup broths and vegetables will leak at spin up if you fail to keep the food at least 1/2″ below the top of the blade hub. If you attempt to put liquids and foods above the limit I mentioned, be prepared to clean-up. Putting downward pressure on the top does nothing to stop the leakage. Top and bottom components do not fit tightly, there is not an effective seal. Enough liquid came flying out at my early attempts that I went online to see if I was missing a gasket for my unit.

(There is none) I adjust by making smaller batches which actually puts less strain on the motor and the unit performs even better. This is only a limitation if you are a larger family. I believe the unit is still the best intermediate I have seen. The locking mechanism for the food pusher has an unusual locking method that does not look like it will outlast my life expectancy for well-made kitchen appliances. Still, I found it does quick work of whatever food I put through it. It stays cool, even after running continuously for several minutes. I find this model does a good job making mayonnaise quickly. (I will never buy store-bought mayo or hummus again!) I am going through a healthy food “renaissance” and this Cuisinart has added to my ability to take control of the food I eat. I noticed on the Cuisinart site that this model is now discontinued, so there may be some bargain pricing available.

The Cuisinart 9 cup food processor powerful compact food processor that doesn’t take up much counter space. Like other Cuisinarts, it includes a wide mouth feed tube along with a smaller, standard size feed food, so it works great with various sizes of foods. The bottom of the pusher has perforations in it, allowing you to add liquid items into the processor without removing the pusher. The beautiful stainless steel exterior looks great, and the three-button (on, pulse, off) touchpad makes for effortless cleaning when you are done. You get all the accessories required chop, slice, shred and make a dough. The Cuisinart prep 9 comes with a 9 cup Lexan BPA free bowl and is also available in a larger 11 cup version if you need more capacity for more substantial meals. Positive Review:

This thing is a workhorse in our kitchen. It sees use for almost every meal. Cuisinart food processors are consistently rated at the top, so if you have done your research you’ll know this is the one to get. The only question is whether to pick up this 9 cup model or the 14 cups. I live in a small apartment with a small kitchen and am usually making meals just for 2 people, so this works for me. However, if you have more kitchen space or regularly cook for more people, I’d recommend the 14 cup model.

This states the material is stainless steel: it is not. The dough blade and DVD are not included, but it says the DVD comes with the blade that you order separately: it does not.

This little guy is the baby brother of the larger Cuisinart food processors. With a capacity of 3 cups and a very compact, small footprint, it’s excellent for any light-duty or small quantity jobs. The Cuisinart DLC-2A is a mini food processor perfect for chopping soft vegetables or grinding nuts and other hard items. It features a pulse chop button and a grind button. When using the chop option, the blades spin with the sharp edge contacting the food to produce a fine, even chop. When you use the grind button, the blade spins backward, so the dull side of the blade contacts the food to grind up hard items like nuts or hard cheeses. This also helps the cutting side of the blade to stay sharp longer. You can choose from a variety of colors so there shouldn’t be a problem picking one to match the decor of your kitchen. This small food processor is great for quick jobs and would make an excellent addition to a larger size food processor in your home. No need to haul the big one for simple tasks.

Contrary to the number in this model name the Cuisinart DLC-8S is an 11 cup food processor. It features a powerful 625-watt induction motor, which is also very quiet when in use. The 11 cup work bowl is BPA free like all of Cuisinart’s work bowls, and you get a large, expandable feed tube for bigger food items as well as a smaller feed tube for smaller items. The front paddle controls on the bottom of the processor are a great feature and very easy to use even when your hands are full. The is an on and off button; the off button doubles as a pulse button when you hold it down. The Cuisinart 11 cup food processor comes with the standard chopping and dough blades as well as a shredding blade, but you get two slicing blades, a 2mm and 4mm blade making it a very versatile machine. The stem adapter system makes changing the discs quick and easy. The Cuisinart DLC-8S food processor is a multi-talented machine and would be a great addition to any home kitchen.

Positive Review:

I bought this to replace the same model I originally acquired in 1993. That one served me for many years, but the latch for the feeder-top device finally broke after 15+ years of regular use. Instead of trying to buy a replacement part, I decided to purchase another brand that was less expensive and ended up very disappointed with its performance. I finally replaced the knock-off with the Cuisinart and now I wonder why I waited so long to do so. This food processor is, in my experience, the best. It feels solid and well-made. The base is heavy and the rubber feet keep it firmly in place on the countertop. The motor is up to the challenge of mixing doughs. The disc blades are sharp and make quick work of slicing and shredding and mixing. I like the addition of a low-profile lid, to be used when mixing with the blade (not with the slicing or shredding discs).

I purchased the disc storage container to go with it and am very happy with the addition of this to the set. Can’t recommend this food processor enough – you won’t be disappointed.

Nagitive Review:
The machine is excellent with an incredibly stupid engineering decision on the main cover/lid. The soft plastic “safety” device only partially depresses the “safety” switch. This means that it will not do things like shredding since the other cover will not fit over the shredding plate.
I had resigned myself to using just the simple cover and chopping and mixing on the bowl. Just before a party, I tried to shred some carrots and there the combination of a shredder and main cover did not work at all.
After an hour’s experimenting, I put a small piece of plastic above the soft “safety” device and another small piece above the “safety” rod. This allowed it to depress enough to work (and it worked very effectively). THIS IS RIDICULOUS

The Breville Sous Chef is the Cadillac of food processors. This machine is built like a tank with a solid cast iron base and a powerful 1200 watt induction motor. Not only do you get two different sizes BPA free work bowls, a 16 cup, and a 2.5 cup, but yet get a huge feed shut, which is big enough to fit large items like whole potatoes. The large assortment of blades and discs fit perfectly in their storage container and include two chopping blades, a dough blade, as well as a french fry disc, reversible shredder, adjustable slicing disc, whisk, and julienne disc. The slicing disc is one of the best features of the Breville BFP800XL Sous Chef food processor because it is adjustable from .3 mm to 8 mm, so you always get the perfect thickness for whatever you are making. The motor comes with an industry-leading 25-year warranty. If you want the best of the best, you need to check out the incredible Breville sous chef food processor.

Positive Review:

I researched this food processor for weeks and for many weeks I attempted to convince myself I could live with something cheaper. In the end, I found this great seller who was offering the Breville for a little less than the $400 asking price and decided I couldn’t get anything else. I purchased it and have been in awe of it ever since it arrived. My Breville 16 Cup Monster arrived 3 days ago and yes It is a BOSS. I love this thing. It is a Monstera mighty Beast. Today I used it to make breakfast hash browns in the morning and made up a really nice pie crust for some Epic Apple Pie in the afternoon.

1. I love the way it fits together (feels really solid).

2. This thing seems to weigh as much as a small car.

3. You have to wash it by hand every time you use it because the Breville is not dishwasher safe. In fact, it has no respect for your dishwasher.

4. It comes with a handy storage box for all its accessories.

5. I have lots of stuff in the kitchen that requires special treatment and care (ie. cast iron cookware, Staud Cocottes, wood cutting boards, etc.) so having one more thing I have to clean a certain way is no big deal for me.

I believe the best times are spent in the kitchen creating tasty homemade dishes. This EPIC Food Processor is just one more tool in helping to facilitate my hobby. Oh Yeah, and it makes my Full-Size stand mixer look like a tiny can opener (by comparison).

Nagitive Review:
This unit was purchased in March of 2015. By November of 2016, the dough blade had drilled a hole through the lid and fused itself to the unit. Breville replaced the unit, but due to a backlog of orders, I didn’t receive the processor until December 2016. In the meantime, I purchased a Cuisinart processor and continued to use that until this spring. I just recently unboxed the replacement Breville processor and have only been using it for about the last four months. Two days ago while making pizza dough, the dough blade drilled a hole through the lid of the food processor and fused the lid to the blade and the body of the processor. I’ve requested a full refund. This product has some very serious design flaws. It is certainly not worth the high price Breville is charging. This product should be completely redesigned before it ruins Breville’s good name! I’m very disappointed by this product and will not be purchasing from Breville again.

If you have a small budget but still need a food processor, you might be able to get by with the Hamilton Beach 8 cup food processor. This low priced machine has a decent 8 cup capacity, and you get a chopping blade along with a reversible shredding/slicing disc. The 500-watt motor has two speeds, as well as a pulse feature. The feed tube is big enough to fit most foods without pre chopping, and the parts are dishwasher safe. It may not have the power to process large quantities of hard vegetables, and it can’t make a dough, but that is to be expected for its low price. If you don’t need the power or features of the other higher priced machines, you can save a ton of money by purchasing the Hamilton food processor, don’t expect the performance of the Cuisinart models.

Positive Review:

This is a fantastic food processor at this price point. I purchased it with an Amazon Prime Now order because my fancy Cuisinart food processor that I had paid $200+ for stopped working for no reason. I was throwing a dinner party the next night and couldn’t wait to replace my Cuisinart. When ordering last-minute party supplies from Amazon Prime Now I checked to see if they sell food processors and to my delight, they did, so I purchased this one.

This food processor is much lighter than my Cuisinart but still offers a large capacity work bowl. It purees, chops, and blends most foods with total ease. I think it is even more powerful than my Cuisinart was. I was able to roughly chop vegetables in seconds, as well as make purees, as shown in my photos. It took a little time to figure out how to install the working bowl and top cover so it locks properly so the machine will turn on, but once I figured it out it was easy to use. I was extremely impressed by how powerful and quick it was. When you need a puree it totally purees whatever ingredient you are using, in seconds, unlike some food processors that either take quite a while to puree or give you a chunky puree. The food processor has two suction cup feet on the bottom which holds the machine securely onto your workspace, which is a great feature.

Nagitive Review:
This food processor is ridiculously fast. I can’t imagine even needing high speed. However, after using about once per week for seven months, the shredding blade broke while shredding mozzarella cheese. The blade itself was literally shredded! Pieces of broken metal were all through the cheese.

Pros:  powerful, fast, nice size chute

Cons: Very loud, even with suction cups it tends to move around while in use, broke after seven months of once-weekly use (mainly cheese, occasionally cabbage shredded for slaw)

The lid features an integrated sealing system that seals both the large and small bowl so they can be completely filled without the worry of spilling or overflowing when in use. The blade lock system prevents the blade from falling out of the bowl when pouring out your processed ingredients, which also helps reduce the amount of cleaning you have to do. The Cuisinart Elite Collection 12-cup food processor includes a nice variety of accessories including a large and small chopping blade, dough blade, an adjustable slicing disc, and a reversible shredding disc with two shred sizes. With a powerful motor, two bowl sizes, and a great selection of discs and blades, the Cuisinart 12 cup food processor is sure to meet the demands of any home chef.

Positive Review:

I really like this Cuisinart Elite 12 cup food processor. The motor is so powerful, however, that care must be taken not to over-process stuff. Even the small bowl and blade chop whatever you put into it so quickly, you think it can’t possibly be done yet, but it is. I had a small 7 cup Cuisinart, with a much less powerful motor prior to this one, and the difference in the quality of results is amazing. Whereas previously after I chopped an onion, for instance, there would be some larger pieces left unchopped and some chopped to a mush. This machine produces evenly sized, perfectly chopped pieces in seconds. I like the adjustability of the slicing blade, too; it makes great thin slices of cucumber for the salad.
All the safety features have taken some getting used to, ie: the locking and unlocking mechanism of the lid to work bowl, the locking and unlocking feature of the large pusher. Another, so far minor, the problem is that one MUST be sure the machine is in off mode after assembling and before plugging it in. There is not really any way to tell what mode it is in, since there are just push buttons for the various functions, and the light comes on after the machine turns on.
Nagitive Review:
I loved this food processor. It is sturdy and works so well for so many things. I have had it for two years now and was cleaning the lid one day after I had used it. There are several, plastic, and rubber gaskets built into the food processor and the lid does not come apart to be able to fully clean the gaskets. I saw something black between two of the layers of gaskets. I investigated further and discovered it was black mold growing on one of the rubber gaskets. I took the lid apart to see if there was any way I could clean it up. I called customer service and they said to send an email with my receipt.
I did and they said that although my food processor was still under warranty, this problem is not covered. I called customer service again and they said I voided the warranty by taking it apart. I will no longer support Cuisinart or Conair… I have molded in the lid of my food processor as a result of structural/design problems and they will not honor my warranty because I tried to clean the mold. Disgusting. This is the type of thing that some companies do recall for… not Cuisinart. They just let it go and let people get sick.

Positive Review:

So I had been debating for years on whether or not to get a food processor since I have the Ninja Blender (which I have a love/hate relationship with). When I saw this on sale (I believe I got it for $55), I decided that it was fate! It’s probably an older model, but I don’t care. It “rices” my cauliflower with ease (just don’t overload it), and I cannot wait to experiment more with it! Very easy to clean, as everything comes apart (no odd nooks and crannies that you cannot get to).

So, if you are debating, as I was… just do it! It’s well worth the price, and the hassles you deal with when cooking will be near eliminated with this appliance in your kitchen!

The Kitchenaid 9-cup food processor comes with two work bowls for small and big jobs. You get a 9 cup bowl as well as a nested 3 cup bowl. The included blades consist of a multi-purpose chopping blade as well as a small chopping blade for the 3 cup bowl, a dough blade, adjustable slicing disc, and a reversible shredding disc. The three in one wide-mouth feed tube allows you to put most foods into the processor without any prep work. Power options are low speed, high speed, and pulse. After reading lots of reviews and testing the Kitchenaid food processor 9 cup, I realized this is not a very good product for the money, and I don’t recommend it. You would be much better of spending your money on one of the better quality Cuisinart products.

Positive Review:

Love this thing. I bought it after our previous one disintegrated while ricing cauliflower and I was left picking plastic out of my food. I originally did a bunch of research on food processors available through Kohl’s and placed an order for it there. A few minutes later, I looked on Amazon for the item I’d just ordered through Kohl’s and found it to be $10 less than the sale price I’d just ordered it at. Canceled that order, ordered through Amazon, have been using it since the day I got it. I love how quiet it is – even my 5-year-old commented on it. It’s not great to clean, but that seems to be the nature of the beast with food processors.
Nagitive Review:
Difficult design, hard to push buttons and could not get the small bowl working without extreme difficulty. The basic chopping attachments use too much bowl space and who needs three widths of feeds? Had an old model for at least 15 years – GREAT Design. Simple – keyword – easy to use, easy to clean. Replaced a bowl once. I ask what design team wanted this monstrosity? Who thought it was wonderful? Do not try the following competition; test with groups of people who use this daily. Yes, I have done consulting to Fortune 500’s. You need to revisit the proverbial drawing board.

A Few Things To Consider When Choosing A Food ProcessorWhat size do you need?

  • How much power do you want?
  • Do you need a machine that has an adjustable slicer?
  • What is your budget?
  • Will you be making dough with your processor?
  • Are you concerned about the length of a warranty?
  • Do you want a large feed tube to reduce prep work?
  • How much counter space do you have?
  • Do you want a machine with a large and small bowl?
  • Does the weight of the machine matter to you?
