The Vicks V745A Warm Mist unit can kill up to 96% of bacteria as it boils your water into steam vapor. The thing I found very interesting about this device was that it allows you to place a medicine cup at the top of the machine which you can place “Vicks Vaposteam” or any other type of “Kaz Inhalant”. This helps give you that Vicks fresh medicated feeling in your nostrils. Some people love this idea, while others will tell you to stay away from putting any medication inside your humidifier. I’ve never used medication with this machine, so I would recommend doing some research before using that feature.

When used at night I usually have about half to 1/3 of water left after approx 6-8 hours. Since it’s a warm mist, it boils the water to clean out its impurities rather than using special cleaning technologies, filters, or demineralization cartridges. As a result, in my experience, it makes cleaning this type of machine a lot easier. For example, the Vicks V745A Warm Mist’s water tank can be thrown into your dishwasher instead of having to manually clean it yourself. This has saved me not only a lot of time but a lot of effort.

Besides cleaning and maintenance, the Vicks V745A did a really good job keeping my nostrils and throat not only moist but warm. It was even great at treating my dry skin and chapped lips, which are usually bad all year round and not just during the winter. Another thing I really liked about this machine with how quiet it operates. Not only is it great to use at night, but it’s just as quiet to use during the day.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE?

For its price, I shouldn’t complain, but I do wish that this unit could work in a larger space. In my bedroom, it works perfectly as well as some other rooms in our home. Although, it struggles in big spaces such as our family and dining room areas. Another thing that could be a problem is how often you are required to clean this machine. If you don’t have a dishwasher it may be a bit tedious but regardless you should be cleaning your unit often anyway in my opinion.

OVERALL OPINION

In my overall opinion, I would have to say that this is probably one of the better quality and better priced warm mist humidifiers that you will find online. Vicks is a name that I trust and for $30, you can’t really go wrong. If this is your first time buying and your a little iffy on which warm mist unit to go with, then definitely do some more research on Vicks if you don’t know about them already.
